Thompson Tractor Company is the full-line Caterpillar dealer for Alabama and northwest Florida and the premier forklift dealer for North Alabama, Georgia, and Central Tennessee. The company specializes in sales and service of Caterpillar products, including earthmoving, construction and materials handling equipment, along with diesel engines used for electric power generation, on-highway and marine propulsion applications. Founded by Hall W. Thompson in 1957, the Company is headquartered in Birmingham, AL. The Company’s history has been distinguished by a dedication to excellence and a commitment to service. From its origin as the Caterpillar dealer for the northern thirty-nine counties in Alabama operating out of three Alabama locations in Birmingham, Decatur and Tuscaloosa, Thompson Tractor is now the full-line Caterpillar dealer for Alabama and northwest Florida.
In addition to its locations in Alabama and Florida, Thompson Lift Truck operates throughout Georgia as well as Nashville, Tennessee. Thompson Lift Truck facilities in Georgia include Albany, Atlanta (Forest Park), Augusta, Macon, and Savannah. Thompson Power Systems provides Cat power generators for standby, prime power, base load, or load management capability to meet your energy demands. In addition, we provide Cat industrial engines, designed with the most accurate application engineering to ensure you receive the proper size, installation, and best operation possible. Further, our marine division specializes in customized marine power solutions, creating unique propulsion and auxiliary packages to work for your vessel.
Thompson Truck Source, a part of Thompson Power Systems, provides parts and service for all makes and models of on-highway vocational trucks.
