Mechanical Engineer

Role Description: Huitt-Zollars, Inc has full-time opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer with at least 5 years' experience and will be a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas. This candidate will have experience in the field of engineering related to mechanical building systems and infrastructure experience including mechanical HVAC, plumbing systems and/or architectural engineering.

Duties:

• Perform mechanical building systems and infrastructure engineering design?functions on a variety of large public and private developments.
• Review and understand LEED requirements and verify they are incorporated into the design/construction.
• Assist?Project Managers?with preparation of pertinent correspondence reports and A/E contract criteria.
• Review technical aspects of major design, construction, renovation and/or alterations.
• Some travel will be required.

• Understands and follows HZ QMS and Quality initiatives. Assists PM on ensuring that quality control measures are being adhered to on projects and daily operations.
• Understands duties and responsibilities, possesses necessary job knowledge and technical skills, maintains job knowledge current.
• Assist with appropriate administrative and project support tasks supporting the needs of the PM on assigned project tasks.
• Contributes to successful delivery and performance of projects
• Complete assignments on-time, within budget, and with highest level of quality.
• Routinely proposes and produces more effective ways to accomplish tasks.
• Assists PM as needed on work planning. Prepares and follows comprehensive Project Framework Instructions and proper work planning for a project. Assists PM on ensuring proper staff is assigned and utilized on their projects.
• Assists PMs as needed on reviewing project reports and performance metrics to track project progress and budget. Assists PM in leading successful projects (profit,on-schedule, quality, satisfied client).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).
• Registered PE required in the State of Texas
• Minimum 5 years of related experience
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME)
• Understanding of LEED requirements and LEED AP preferred
• Knowledge of Unified Facilities Criteria, applicable building codes and standards for construction, specifically for mechanical and plumbing codes
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit BIM?computer aided design programs, Trace 700 and Bluebeam
• Experience with HVAC manufacturer selection software is a plus
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times
• The employee must be able to concentrate on details, work under deadline pressures, apply sound logic and judgment, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
