About Johns Hopkins Health System (JHHS) & School of Medicine Prior to his death in 1873, Johns Hopkins outlined his wish that The Johns Hopkins Hospital administer the finest patient care, train superior physicians, and seek new knowledge for the advancement of medicine. The Johns Hopkins Hospital was considered a municipal and national marvel when it opened in 1889. It was believed to be the largest medical center in the country with 17 buildings, 330 beds, 25 physicians, and 200 employees. As a Baltimore American headline put it on May 7, 1889, the Hospital's opening day, "Its Aim Is Noble," and its service would be "For the Good of All Who Suffer." Over the next 100 years, the healthcare environment changed a great deal, particularly in the financing of patient care and research. In response, the Johns Hopkins Hospital created The Johns Hopkins Health System Corporation in 1986, moving into the community, establishing clinics, and affiliating with other hospitals to provide a broader spectrum of patient care and different resources for teaching and research. The Johns Hopkins Health System (JHHS) Corporation functions as a parent holding company of its wholly owned affiliates, including The Johns Hopkins Hospital, Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Howard County General Hospital, Suburban Hospital, Sibley Memorial Hospital, All Children's Hospital, and Johns Hopkins Community Physicians, Inc. The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM), located in Baltimore, Maryland is the academic medical teaching and research arm of the Johns Hopkins University, founded in 1876. The School of Medicine shares a campus with the Johns Hopkins Hospital. Position Summary Project Managers are responsible for the construction of additions, alterations, and renovations at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, the Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, and/or various satellite ambulatory locations that require project management support. The ideal candidate should possess proficiency delivering all aspects of construction projects including project initiation, design, budget, construction, safety/compliance, and closeout. Project Managers may also be assigned to support aspects of larger projects by Senior Project Managers and/or Project Executives as needed. Beyond the required technical skills for this position, Project Managers must also possess effective communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills with the ability to build positive working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders. Required Minimum Education & Experience Bachelor's degree as outline below in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is preferred. Candidates who possess equivalent advanced technical knowledge via an associate degree, relevant professional certifications, training in trades programs, vocational or technical school, partially completed coursework at a college/university, or apprenticeship sponsor organization will be considered. Experience is to be in project management in a comparable position leading or supporting the delivery of construction projects. Experience requirements may be flexible if a candidate holds a master's degree and/or certifications or licenses such as a Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC), LEED AP, Registered Architect (RA), Professional Engineer (P.E.), or other relevant professional certification or license. Engineering/Design/Construction Department Preferred Education: Bachelor's Degree Department Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities: Knowledge of Power Plant Operations, Control Platforms to include, but not limited to, Allen Bradley and Wonderware, Regulatory permits, underground storage tank compliance Department Preferred Licensure, Certification, Registration: MD Stationary Engineer License Grade 1-3 Department Preferred Experience: 6 years with Bachelor's Specific systems, applications, projects on which the position will be responsible to develop or maintain: Impact of system, application, and/or projects to organization: Central utility plant generates utilities such as chilled water, steam, and electricity that are provided for research, teaching, and patient care environments Examples of clients supported and degree of client interaction: Power Plant Operations, Technical Team, Cross campus interaction within the JHH network . Client interaction will be need based Scale/size of area supported: Central utility plants in the Baltimore area; 2 at JHH and 1 at JHBMC. Consult with other campuses as needed. Degree of leadership and/or supervision - how work is assigned, carried out, and reviewed: Acts in a lead capacity. May cover for supervisor/manager during time-off Work location: Predominately East Baltimore energy plants On call requirements (if applicable): May be called off-hour to support operations. Department-specific Essential Job Functions (add specific functions if necessary): Work with leadership to identify in-house and construction projects. Life cycle analysis of plant equipment and end of life manufacturers support. Develop and maintain preventive maintenance tasks. Act as technical subject matter expert pertaining to equipment and processes in Plant. Salary Range: Minimum 36.49 per hour - Maximum 60.26 per hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
