Position Overview

Position Summary
The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of a full-time Instructor and Program Director of Emergency Management, beginning fall 2025. This is a 10-month residential appointment and campus presence is required. The appointment includes 75 percent of online teaching and 25 percent reassigned time during each academic year to perform the administrative duties as Program Coordinator.


Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in Emergency Management.
  • Recruiting students to the program and providing academic advising, management, and data collection for program review and effectiveness
  • Structuring classes and curriculum to correspond with the overall program objectives; preparing clear objectives for students for each course
  • Conducting research and other scholarly activity to include activities to remain current in the field through professional development
  • Participating in program, departmental, and university activities and committees as needed
  • Attending program, departmental, and university faculty meetings
  • Other appropriate duties as assigned by the Health and Human Services Chair and/ or as outlined in the Faculty Handbook

Minimum Job Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in Emergency Management or related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning plus a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field
  • Preferred: certification at either the state or national level as an Emergency Manager or has qualifications to obtain certification.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Experience with online curriculum development
  • Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and other technologies for the classroom. Demonstrated proficiency using an online learning management system such as Canvas to develop and build course content and perform administrative duties (posting office hours, syllabi, etc.)

Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:
Work is sedentary in nature and at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
