Position Summary:

Applies newly acquired knowledge to operations & manufacturing assignments that provide background and experience to accept additional responsibilities in their area of specialty later when the degree is completed. Candidates will be paired with a mentor who will provide the project scope and technical guidance. Candidates will gain experience with and knowledge of Parker Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, and customer requirements sufficient to perform future responsibilities with general direction. Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Essential Functions:

  1. Assure safe environment & support process improvements related to safety, including environmental and ergonomics.
  2. Provide technical and administrative support to process engineering including data collection, data entry and filing.
  3. Assist manufacturing team solve Safety, quality, delivery & productivity issues using parker's problem solving skills
  4. Provide productivity improvements through the support of continuous improvement projects.
  5. Support operations & Cost (Productivity) site wide star point team and assist the high-performance teams in maintaining the cost side of their TIB.
  6. Enable team members on the floor achieve their high performing teams (HPT's) goals through problem solving.
  7. Participate in weekly on the floor walks (GEMBA), HPT star points & site Lean evaluation scoring.
  8. Identify and lead Kaizens through Site & Value Stream transformation plans
  9. Assist manufacturing team on the floor meet daily production
  10. Trouble shoot and problem solve on the production floor on process through review of day by hour sheets.
  11. Review, revise and draft standard operating procedures, including work instructions, process documents, batch cards.
  12. Train operators, supervisors and other employees on basic lean principles & problem solving tools.
  13. Perform all other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Responsibilities:

  1. Currently enrolled in, or completed degree in related field, such as: Business, Engineering, Supply Chain. Candidate shall have completed sophomore year with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  2. Ability to influence and work well with all functions of an organization
  3. Strong statistical, analytical, decision making & sense of urgency skills.
  4. Knowledge of lean manufacturing and problem solving tools (e.g. fishbone, 5Why's) a plus
  5. Project tracking + management, a plus
  6. Six Sigma Green Belt, a plus.
  7. Ability to work effectively in a variety of environments and assignments.
  8. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  10. Must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent Resident
