Postdoctoral position in functional biomaterials and clinical translation

The position is joint between the Meinig School of Biomedical Engineering and the Smith School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering. The successful applicant will lead and support research projects focused on the design and synthesis of functional biomaterials. One key attribute for the position is that the postdoctoral fellow will be immersed in the process through which functional biomaterials are developed and translated into the clinic (i.e., start-up companies, scale-up synthesis, process validation, biocompatibility analysis, FDA regulations, financing models, IP portfolio design, etc.) The successful applicant will play a central role in the interactions among different labs and colleges. Applicants are not expected to have expertise in entrepreneurship, but do need to have a strong interest in learning entrepreneurship skills and methods. This will be a one-year appointment, with annual extension possible based on satisfactory performance.
