JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Computer Science and Software Engineering Department at Penn State Behrend invites applicants for a tenure-line Assistant Professor position starting Fall 2024 or when agreed upon.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching core Computer Science and Software Engineering courses encompassing theory, systems, and programming. They should also develop elective courses and firmly commit to excellence in undergraduate education and research scholarship in areas of interest such as cybersecurity, distributed systems, high-performance computing, software engineering, and artificial intelligence. The successful candidate is required to hold a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field by the appointment start date.

Research at Behrend is an integral part of our faculty and students' learning experience. Our research spans fundamental and applied domains, aligning with our Open Lab philosophy, where learning and discovery are applied to address problems identified in collaboration with external stakeholders. At Penn State Behrend, not only is there access to a large group of companies housed in-campus at the Knowledge Park, but also graduate students and collaborators from other Penn State campuses to foster a rich ecosystem for research. We strongly encourage cross-disciplinary and collaborative research efforts.
