Position Description:

A postdoctoral position is available immediately in the laboratory of Kamal Rahmouni, Ph.D., in the Department of Neuroscience and Pharmacology at the University of Iowa. A highly motivated postdoctoral scholar is needed for funded research on the neurobiology of energy homeostasis, autonomic regulation and blood pressure control relating to obesity.

Education Requirement:

A PhD degree or equivalent in a biomedical related field

Required Qualifications:


  • A strong publication record and excellent references from graduate research.




  • A notable feature of this postdoctoral position will be experience in combining state-of-the-art genetic and molecular methods with sophisticated neural, metabolic and cardiovascular physiologic techniques to address fundamental mechanisms of neuronal regulation of energy homeostasis, autonomic function and cardiovascular system.




  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques and immunohistochemistry.


Desirable Qualifications:


  • Experience with live imaging, optogenetic, chemogenetic and/or neurophysiology


  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques and immunohistochemistry





  • Ability to work independently while being accountable and efficient with time management
