Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant for Card - Invasive

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner practices under the clinical supervision of the Medical Director of Cardiology, demonstrates competency and efficiency in the care of the cardiology patient. This position demonstrates competency in assessing, diagnosing and treating the cardiology patient in accordance with delineation of privileges; Demonstrates "strong" ability to organize and prioritize patient care activities; Selects and interprets laboratory and diagnostic testing; Communicates medical assessment and plan to patient and attending physician; Completes medical record documentation in a timely manner; and assumes on call and rotation schedule as required. The primary responsibilities will be hospital based or office based to include discharges, admissions, non-invasive testing and daily rounding with all cardiology physician groups.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Skills Required:

1. Licensed as a NYS Certified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
2. 3 years of clinical experience as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; or Nurse Practitioner with minimum of five years RN experience.
3. ACLS required.
4. DEA privileges required.
5. 2-5 years of previous Cardiology experience required.
6. Demonstrated ability to facilitate the collaborative management of the cardiology / cardiothoracic / vascular patient.
