Halff has an opening for a Roadway Engineer, with a Florida PE License, to join our Transportation team based out of our Tampa, Tavares or Orlando, FL office. The Roadway Engineer will be responsible for the development of engineering concepts in support of Florida Project Development & Environment (PD&E) Studies. Halff's Transportation services safely move people, vehicles and freight using multimodal applications ranging from roadways (local roads to interstate highways), transit and active transportation projects from initial planning through final design. The complete project development process includes responsive planning and design such as geometrics and storm drainage. It incorporates technology and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) to relay roadway information and communication. Finally, it brings transit planning and design to the forefront.

Roadway Engineer (PE) - Florida Transportation PD&E Studies Responsibilities:


  • Works under a Team Leader in the development of Florida PD&E Studies
  • Assists in managing the workload of design staff including other Engineers, EIT's, and technical staff
  • Assists in development and management of project scopes, budgets, and schedules
  • Reviews transportation designs and detailed plans for accuracy and consistency
  • Reports on project progress
  • Collaborates with clients and other consultants
  • Assists with project pursuits and business development activities


Roadway Engineer (PE) - Florida Transportation PD&E Studies Requirements:


  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or ABET accredited equivalent Engineering degree
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience providing conceptual roadway and/or trail design in support for Florida PD&E Studies
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License in Florida
  • Knowledge and understanding of the NEPA, state environmental and Florida PD&E requirements
  • Knowledge of the Environmental and Public Involvement activities required for PD&E Studies
  • Knowledge of AASHTO, FDOT and Green Book design criteria, standards and plans preparation requirements
  • Knowledge in Traffic Demand and Analysis, Highway Horizontal and Vertical Alignment, Structures, Drainage, Maintenance of Traffic, Signing and Pavement Markings, Signalization, Lighting, Utilities, Structures, Intelligent Transportation Systems and Tolling and design or coordination of all engineering disciplines required for the development of engineering alternatives for a project
