Location: Remote

Reports to: Director of IT Infrastructure & Operations

We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer who can modernize, secure, and support connectivity for our growing, employee-owned construction company. This role blends hands-on engineering with improvement and design and is critical to evolving our hybrid network architecture toward modern, mature, enterprise scale and ensuring secure, reliable access for offices, jobsites, remote users, cloud platforms, and SaaS environments. The wage range for this position is $1,900.00 to $2,300.00 per week. Compensation will be determined based on knowledge and experience.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve network implementation patterns, configuration baselines, and documentation practices that align with enterprise architecture standards, approved reference architectures, and security best practices for a distributed enterprise.
  • Modernize on-premise environments to reduce complexity and improve resilience while shifting connectivity toward cloud and SaaS access patterns.
  • Support the evolution of modern access models, such as SASE, SD-WAN, Zero Trust-aligned connectivity, and secure network design.
  • Implement network automation, configuration baselines, and repeatable deployment practices that improve consistency, reduce manual effort, and support scalable operations.
  • Monitor network health, performance, and availability using enterprise tools and improve visibility across offices, jobsites, remote access, and cloud-connected environments.
  • Develop standardized jobsite network deployment patterns that support rapid mobilization, consistent security, reliable connectivity, and repeatable support for temporary and mobile construction environments.
  • Partner with IT teams to meet governance and security requirements while performing operational configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management.
  • Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, dependency maps, standards, and operational runbooks that support incident response, change control, onboarding, and repeatable service delivery.
  • This position may require occasional travel to offices, jobsites, or other operating locations to support network design, deployment, troubleshooting, and standardization efforts.
The ideal candidate is a senior engineer who enjoys building and optimizing network infrastructure solutions with a holistic approach. This role will fit someone who is comfortable moving between strategic design, hands-on technical implementation, and practical support. The role collaborates across IT teams to ensure network solutions are secure, reliable, and aligned with enterprise technology standards.

Qualifications:
  • Experience designing, managing, and operating secure connectivity for cloud-centric, distributed environments, including offices, jobsites, remote users, SaaS platforms, and cloud services.
  • Experience with SASE, SD-WAN, Zero Trust-aligned network access, segmentation, or modern secure access architectures.
  • Working knowledge of identity-aware access concepts, including Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, SASE integration, and Zero Trust network access patterns.
  • Experience with permanent and temporary multi-site network solutions.
  • Experience optimizing legacy LAN, WAN, wireless, firewall, and VPN environments alongside cloud and SaaS migrations and access patterns.
  • Experience with Cisco, Meraki, or similar enterprise networking platforms; CATO SASE experience is preferred.
  • Experience using monitoring, observability, automation, or configuration management practices to improve network reliability, consistency, and supportability.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical workstreams and implementations, produce clear designs and work plans, mentor technical staff, and balance urgent operational support with long-term architecture improvement.
Requirements:
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in enterprise network engineering, including responsibility for designing, implementing, supporting, and improving networks across distributed or multi-site environments.
  • Strong knowledge of physical and cloud routing, switching, wireless networking, VPN, firewalls, segmentation, SD-WAN, and network security best-practices.
  • Experience with IaaS (OCI, Azure) including secure integration with on-premises environments.
  • Experience with CMDB, service management, and network observability/monitoring tools, including platforms such as Auvik or similar solutions.
  • Experience with scripting, automation, configuration management, or infrastructure-as-code practices used to improve network consistency, reduce manual effort, and support repeatable deployments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across diverse environments
