What to Expect
We'relooking for a passionateApplications Engineer to jointhe Tesla Energy Applications team. As Applications Engineer focused on solar applications, you will be the subject matter expert on Tesla's new industrial and utility-scale solar products, involved with product specification, technical requirements, featuredevelopment,pilottesting, and commercial rollout. As a key technical member of the cross-functional Applications Engineering teamwithin the EnergyEngineering organization, you will be integral to Tesla's mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable abundance.
What You'll Do
- Providetechnicalexpertiseonindustrial and utility-scalesolar inverter control and monitoringfor the implementation of new features in Tesla's commercial and utilityenergy offering
- Advise, scope and support development ofmonitoring and control featuresforcommercial and utility-scale solar
- Collect input from a diverse group of stakeholders (customer, sales, service, firmware, hardware, etc.) and distill into clear requirement for software and firmware development teams
- Driveinternalvalidation and field pilotsfor newly developed features
- Work closely with software development teams to resolve any issues that arise during implementation
- Developtools tofacilitatescaling of Tesla'ssolar deployments
- Develop internal and externaltechnicaldocumentation toeducate customers and adjacent teams aboutthe product and aboutnewly deployed functionalities
- Createtoolsand trainingsthat empower Teslatechnical support andservice teams to troubleshoot issuesrelated to subject matterexpertise
- Supporttheassessment ofnewapplicationsrelating to subject matterexpertisethat arise in the sales process
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Technical and hands-on experience(deployment,commissioningor service)withPV inverters,particularly in theutility space(front-of-the-meter, transmission-connected systems). Experience withadditionalequipment as part of utility-scale solar installations (trackers, balance of plant) desired
- Demonstrated application of analysis, design,and testing to solve complex engineering problems
- Strong knowledge ofelectricalengineering fundamentals
- Knowledgeofat least one relevant programminglanguage:Rust,Golang, Python, etc.is preferred

Expected Compensation
$140,000 - $252,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
