Data Solutions Analyst

Washington Trust Bank
$99,829.00 - $149,744.00 / yr
United States, Washington, Spokane
Sep 16, 2026
Description

The Data Solutions Analyst helps turn business needs and strategic ideas into clearly defined, practical, and sustainable data solutions. This position works across business and technology teams to clarify problems, define desired outcomes, identify data and business requirements, evaluate solution options, and prepare work for successful delivery.

The Data Solutions Analyst serves as a key connection point between business stakeholders, Business Intelligence, Software Development, Architecture, Information Security, and other technology partners. The role helps ensure teams have a shared understanding of what is being solved, why it matters, how success will be measured, and what is needed to move forward.

This position requires strong business analysis, facilitation, data, and solution-planning skills. The analyst must have sufficient technical knowledge to investigate data, validate assumptions, contribute to solution design, and develop targeted prototypes when appropriate. Hands-on technical development is a supporting responsibility rather than the primary focus of the role.

Location: Center on Post - 176 S Post St 2nd Floor Spokane, WA 99201

Essential Functions:

  • Lead discovery with business and technology stakeholders to define business problems, desired outcomes, users, business rules, data needs, constraints, risks, and measures of success.
  • Translate business needs and strategic direction into clearly defined capabilities, requirements, phased roadmaps, and actionable work for engineering, analytics, and development teams.
  • Communicate technical options, dependencies, limitations, and trade-offs in terms that business stakeholders and leaders can understand.
  • Partner with technical specialists to evaluate solution approaches and determine when a need calls for analysis, additional discovery, a prototype, a temporary solution, a reusable data product, an integrated workflow, or a production-supported capability.
  • Coordinate dependencies and decisions across business stakeholders, Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, Software Development, Architecture, Data Governance, Information Security, QA, vendors, and other partners.
  • Identify overlapping initiatives, unclear ownership, competing definitions, and cross-team dependencies before they result in duplicate work, conflicting solutions, or delivery delays.
  • Help define reusable enterprise data concepts, including terminology, business rules, relationships, authoritative sources, ownership, stewardship, data-quality expectations, and approved uses.
  • Create and maintain durable solution artifacts, including capability roadmaps, requirements, process and data flows, decision records, Jira work items, acceptance criteria, and implementation handoffs.
  • Support prioritization by documenting business value, urgency, risk, operational or regulatory impact, opportunities for reuse, dependencies, and expected delivery complexity.
  • Perform targeted technical discovery using SQL, data-profiling tools, data models, reports, APIs, workflows, and other platform capabilities to validate assumptions and improve solution definition.
  • Develop limited prototypes or proofs of concept when they will help stakeholders clarify requirements, evaluate feasibility, or make informed decisions.
  • Confirm that delivered solutions meet agreed business outcomes and have appropriate ownership, documentation, adoption, support, and feedback processes.

Qualifications:

  • Strong ability to bring structure and clarity to ambiguous, complex, or cross-functional problems.
  • Ability to facilitate decisions among stakeholders with different priorities, terminology, and levels of technical knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of data architecture, integration, analytics, data modeling, master and reference data, data quality, governance, security, and solution lifecycle practices.
  • Ability to connect strategic direction and business capabilities to phased roadmaps and executable delivery work.
  • Strong written, verbal, visual, facilitation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to influence and coordinate work across organizational boundaries without formal authority.
  • Sound judgment regarding when to use a simple solution, conduct additional discovery, develop a prototype, or engage specialized technical resources.
  • Ability to distinguish short-term workarounds from solutions requiring enterprise-level support, governance, and controls.
  • Practical experience with Agile planning, requirements management, and work-management tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Technical proficiency with SQL and familiarity with data and workflow technologies such as Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, Profisee, Power Platform, or comparable platforms.
  • A bachelor's degree in information systems, business, data analytics, computer science, finance, operations, or a related field is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience may be considered.
  • Experience in banking, financial services, or another regulated industry is preferred.

Role Accountability:

The Data Solutions Analyst is responsible for driving effective discovery, defining clear and actionable solutions, fostering stakeholder alignment, and ensuring work is well-prepared for delivery.

This role serves as a collaborative partner across business and technology teams, helping connect business needs with data solutions and facilitating informed decision-making. While the position provides guidance and coordination throughout the solution lifecycle, accountability for implementation, architecture, risk decisions, governance approvals, and business outcomes remains with the appropriate teams and stakeholders.
