Position Summary

UNM-Valencia is currently accepting applications for the position of Mgr, Facility Operations. Under the oversight of the Director of Business Operations, this position provides technical leadership for the integrated facility operations. The manager oversees the supervision of a multi-trades workforce engaged in activities associated with the plant operations, maintenance, and housekeeping. Administrative duties include fiscal management of the departmental budget, purchasing equipment/supplies, and preparing reports. Duties include maintaining a large enterprise mechanical system, management of custodial services and procedures, management of grounds including operation of equipment, fleet maintenance, and capital projects oversight with coordination with contractors. Supervisory duties include managing and training assigned staff, scheduling, and knowledge of employee labor union and contracts. This position provides 24/7 on-call support to protect facility assets and minimize operational disruptions.

Located about 30 miles south of Albuquerque in rural Valencia County, the University of New Mexico-Valencia Campus is a two-year branch campus of the University of New Mexico which functions as a community college in the region and is designated a Hispanic Serving Institution. With an emphasis on teaching excellence, Valencia Campus offers academic transfer programs, career and technical programs, Adult Basic Education, and Dual Credit High School/College courses to Valencia and Socorro Counties. The faculty and staff serve a student body of over 2,000 students per semester.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 10 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration,
    electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering
  • At least five years' experience in providing
    oversight on capital projects including development and review of design
    specifications
  • At least five years' experience with HVAC
    including troubleshooting and monitoring systems
  • Experience working with labor union contracts
  • Spanish/English bilingual
