Perform and validate all routine and special tests associated with the hematology, chemistry, coagulation, point of care, immunology, blood bank, urinalysis and parasitology according to Good Laboratory Practice regulations. Testing includes instrument maintenance, specimen processing, quality control (QC)/statistics, troubleshooting protocol/instrument issues verification of results and accurate interpretation and reporting. Technologists must maintain a safe work environment while handling specimens that include blood, feces, tissues, organs and body fluids. Provide interpretative support for laboratory reports and recommend review by clinical pathologist when appropriate. Assist in training of new personnel and provide supervision of co-workers with different qualifications. Act as a consultant for clinicians, clinic staff and students on proper sample submission and result interpretation. Professional services require 24/7 access to testing. Staff members are required to participate in weekend/holiday on-call rotation and coverage of evenings, weekends and holidays. Location and Work environment
