Overview

MI seeks a Mission Support Team Lead to support a Customs and Border Protection program. The Senior Business Management Team Lead will provide leadership and oversight across the business management division for a large, complex CBP program supporting mission-critical activities. The Team Lead leads a team of contractor acquisition and program management professionals, ensuring high-quality delivery of acquisition products and services, driving innovation and process improvements, and collaborating closely with program managers, contracting officials, and other stakeholders. This role requires a strong customer-service mindset, deep acquisition expertise, and proactive engagement capabilities. This role requires occasional on-site presence in Washington, DC 1-2 days per quarter.

Responsibilities

Program Focal Point: Serve as the Government PM's primary POC for individual programs. Serve as the LMI PM's primary POC for the mission support program.

Leadership & Team Management

    Lead, mentor, and supervise business management division, human capital staff across the program.

Program Execution: Responsible and accountable for all aspects of the program daily tasks, program deliverables, and program activities, including planning and execution, logistics, and staffing requirements where applicable.

  • Elevates risks, issues, and opportunities when appropriate.
  • Respond to internal and external taskers/questions and inquiries on assigned tasks, projects, and business analysis.
  • Works to develop solutions for client tasks through technological innovation.

Proactive Mindset: Proactively resolves risks and issues that impact the team's ability to support CBP's mission and goals.

Quality: Leads the team to develop program deliverables and work products for quality accuracy, completeness, and adherence to client and LMI and PMOD customer quality standards.

Cross-Program Collaboration: Collaborates with adjacent teams.

Team Building and Resource Coordination: Leads allocated LMI resources to accomplish team priorities and monitor performance and conduct of LMI program staff. Continually guides staff and reinforces desired behaviors.

Acquisition and Program Management Support & Execution

  • Provide business management subject matter expertise and advisory support regarding DHS acquisition practices and lifecycle governance including:
    • Front Office Support
    • Technical Editing
    • Human Capital Support
    • Task Management
    • Knowledge Management
    • Records Management
    • SharePoint Support
    • Asset Management
  • Oversee the development and review of business management presentations and documentation as needed.
  • Work with CBP USBP to establish and monitor the program's execution towards milestones, key events, and significant accomplishment criteria.

Innovation & Process Improvement

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance business management execution, documentation quality, and efficiency.
  • Introduce innovative tools, approaches, and acquisition techniques aligned with DHS mission needs and federal procurement regulations.
  • Resolve issues, remove roadblocks, and support continuous improvement across the program.


Qualifications

Required:

  • 8+ years of experience in federal acquisition support, including hands-on experience across the acquisition lifecycle (DoD or DHS).
  • Proven leadership experience managing teams of 5-10 people
  • Bachelor's degree in business, management, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of development within Microsoft Power Apps.
  • Demonstrated success forming strong working relationships with government program managers and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and customer-engagement skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate staff, foster collaboration, and build a high-performing team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve issues, advise senior stakeholders, and drive results in complex acquisition environments.
  • Ability to pass a government background investigation, including financial, criminal, residential, educational, foreign affiliation, prohibited substance abuse, and employment verifications; an active U.S. Customs and Border Protection Background Investigation (BI) is required. Please note that only U.S. citizens are eligible for a suitability determination.

Desired:

  • DHS business management experience.
  • PMP or other program management certification.
  • Master's degree in business, management, finance, or a related discipline.
