Assistant Professor, International Education

The Department of Educational Leadership at The George Washington University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of International Education in Washington, D.C. The anticipated position is a 9-month, renewable, tenure-accruing academic year appointment.

The position duties are as follows: Develop and teach MA and doctoral level classes in International Education; develop and conduct research in education and development in comparative and international education; contribute to the school's broad scholarly agenda; help broaden the program's engagement with researchers, educators, and policy makers in various regions of the world; provide additional leadership to the GW UNESCO Chair in International Education for Development; and provide service to the international education program, department of education leadership, school, and university.

All applicants must have:

An earned doctorate by date of appointment;

Demonstrated scholarship (publications, grants, presentations, etc.);

Demonstrated successful teaching experience at the university level;

A substantive focus in at least one area relevant to education and development, as demonstrated by academic preparation, experience, and/or research;

Evidence of regional expertise and experience (i.e., Latin America, Middle East, Africa, Asia, etc.);

Established professional networks in international and/or comparative education organizations, e.g., experience and/or contacts with international organizations, agencies working in the field, ministries of education, international universities, scholars and practitioners;

Ability to manage and attract research projects and grants.

Demonstrated commitment to supporting those who have thrived in different environments and would enrich the university with a wide variety of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
