Pay for this position is $18 hourly.

This position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek. This is a temporary position supporting the November General Election with an anticipated start date in October.

As a Temporary Ballot Tabulation Center (BTC) Inspector, you facilitate the election process by organizing and processing ballots, providing guidance, and performing data entry.

We Require

This position requires a high school diploma or GED.

Other Requirements

  • Must be a registered voter or have the ability to become a registered voter in the State of Arizona by the time of hire
  • Must be an Independent or Party Not Designated registered voter
  • Must pass an applicable background screening
  • Must be able to work overtime as necessary
  • Must have legible penmanship

We Also Value

  • One or more years of general office experience
  • One or more years of moderate computer use experience
  • One or more years of election experience
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

Job Contributions

  • Assists Adjudication teams when they are unsure about a voter's intent by providing guidance and clarification
  • Stands throughout the assignment, moving between teams as necessary to provide guidance
  • Maintains accurate and legible documentation of ballot processing
  • Assists other divisions within Elections or the Recorder's Office with daily operations and additional job duties as assigned

Working Conditions

  • Full-time/Temporary/Holidays/Overtime hours are mandatory during the election cycle
  • Requires upper extremity repetitive motion, the ability to review small fonts on hard copy or computer screen, and the ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • All operations will be conducted under Livestream cameras and in the presence of political observers
  • Closed-toed shoes must be worn at all times
  • Must not engage in any political discussion

Requires the use of:

  • Proprietary elections software
  • Tabulation machine
  • Scanners
  • Microsoft Office products

  • Consideration will only be given to candidates who submit online applications

  • Must pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation as required by statute or policy, including drug and alcohol testing requirements for positions designated as safety-sensitive
