One (1) year of patient scheduling, patient access, medical office, medical-related patient accounts, or related experience required. Knowledge of medical terminology required.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Provides experienced front-line support for patient scheduling, registration, reception, and office coordination activities. Independently manages routine and moderately complex scheduling and registration tasks while supporting workflow continuity and service quality. Applies working knowledge of patient access processes to resolve issues and support team operations.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. *Independently schedules, confirms, and coordinates patient appointments, including moderately complex scenarios.






  1. *Registers patients and ensures accurate entry and verification of demographic, insurance, and financial information.






  1. *Manages high-volume inbound and outbound calls, resolving scheduling, registration, and routine follow-up needs.






  1. *Reviews orders and documentation for completeness and initiates follow-up within established guidelines.






  1. *Maintains patient records through accurate scanning, filing, and documentation management.






  1. *Supports revenue cycle activities by collecting payments, providing estimates, and referring patients to financial counseling as appropriate.






  1. *Supports workflow continuity by covering multiple locations or functions as assigned.






  1. *Shares functional knowledge and provides informal guidance to peers as needed.






  1. *Adheres to regulatory, privacy, and service standards while working independently.






  1. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.






  1. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.






  1. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:




  1. Knowledge of general office procedures and standard clerical practices.






  1. Knowledge of medical terminology and general hospital/clinical processes and procedures.






  1. Knowledge of standard healthcare privacy, safety, and financial compliance regulations.






  1. Knowledge of third-party payer guidelines and requirements.






  1. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.






  1. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.






  1. Ability to perform crucial conversations with desired outcomes.






  1. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and medical staff.






  1. Ability to organize tasks and establish priorities to facilitate accuracy and productivity in a dynamic environment.

  1. Ability to maintain confidentiality relevant to sensitive information.






  1. Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision.






  1. Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance.





EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent required. One (1) year of patient scheduling, patient access, medical office, medical-related patient accounts, or related experience required. Knowledge of medical terminology required.

For internal promotions, must be in good standing with three (3) of the last four (4) registration reviews above acceptable score and passing annual competencies.

Must be 19 years of age to witness legal consents.
