Job Summary

This position supports the special education classroom to create a positive learning environment and support for our special education staff. The support can include, lesson preparation, working directly with students, data collection, and monitoring, and clerical related tasks. Fluency with Google documents and spreadsheets, IXL, and the Infinite Campus Student Information System represent the core technology requirements for the role. Lastly, working collaboratively as a team with the GWECHS staff and administration are essential.

Essential Functions

50% - Providing students with learning assistance, skills development, and tutoring for all high school content.
20% - Assisting students in completing assignments in IXL and Canvas learning platforms.
10% - Monitoring and maintaining student folders, progress information, and related records.
10% - Provides information and explanation related to grammar, syntax, and vocabulary.
10% - Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

Desired Qualifications
  1. Associate's degree or higher
  2. Experience with mentoring students to complete a variety of assignments in a high school environment
  3. Experience using instructional materials and aids to support student learning in a high school environment
  4. Experience in working with a diverse population of students providing tutoring services in variety of subjects in a high school environment
  5. Experience using online systems such as Google Suite, Learning Management System (LMS)- Canvas, online tutoring systems for K-12, etc.
  6. One (1) year full-time relevant MCCCD experience during the previous two (2) years
     
Special Working Conditions
  • Possession of a valid Level I DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
  • May be required to travel or be assigned to all GateWay locations
  • May require some evenings or weekends
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
  • May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs
  • MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas
