Position Overview
The University of Kansas Department of Special Education invites experienced scholars (e.g., retired university faculty, field researchers, program administrators, building principals, professional developers, teacher mentors, and academic coaches) to submit applications for part-time, temporary positions as course instructors. Amount of work required can vary by position and will range in FTE.
The Instructor is an instructional, adjunct faculty position that is not eligible for tenure or promotion in rank. This is a term appointment for the Fall 2026 semester. Renewal will be based upon unit needs and funding as well as performance that meets expectations, not to exceed two continuous semesters. This position is subject to acollective bargaining agreementbetween The University of Kansas and United Academics, United Academics of KU, AAUP, or AFT. UAKU is the exclusive representative. Job Description 100% Instructional Duties: Part-time instructors teach graduate-level and undergraduate courses. All classes are held at either the Lawrence or Edwards campus.
Required Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications Expertise related to teaching students with disabilities in general education settings, community program development, classroom supervision, online teaching, and school leadership experience. Additional Candidate Instructions A complete application includes:
