About The Role:

As a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Professional, you are vital in guaranteeing the integrity and safety of construction endeavors by evaluating and confirming the characteristics and quality of materials used. Working under the supervision of a Licensed Engineer, you will coordinate field explorations, field logging of soil samples, perform engineering calculations/design, prepare proposals and reports, and provide project and client support.



  • Testing construction materials: Perform tests and oversee special inspections of materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and others to ensure they meet project specifications and industry standards.
  • Analyzing construction plans and specifications: Verify that they align with project goals before conducting field observations.
  • Recording and managing field activities: Document detailed observations and test results during project execution, using Metafield or other management systems daily for efficient data handling and coordination.
  • Preparing reports and proposals: Help draft reports and proposals for smaller projects, ensuring thorough and accurate assessments and documentation.
  • Communicating daily: Interact with management, contractors, and clients to maintain project transparency and provide regular updates on progress.


Experience shifting work hours based on project needs and weather conditions, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and overtime (paid at time and a half).

About You:



  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or a similar technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • You have a minimum of 2 years of experience in construction materials testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt
  • You understand that within 6 months of hiring, you must obtain at least 1 certification associated with the type of duties and responsibilities assigned
  • You have active Construction Materials industry certifications, such as:

    • American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician, International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils), and/or KYTC certifications


  • You have basic math and communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
  • You understand that a fluctuating weekly schedule and occasional travel are possible



You Are Willing and Able to:

Perform the physical demands of the position with the use of company-provided Personal Protective Equipment, such as:



  • Working the majority of the time outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially up to 12 hours a day
  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
  • Maneuvering field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground around active construction sites
