Job Description
The Batching Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the batching operations to ensure that all products are prepared according to Employee Safety, Food Safety, and Quality standards set by Westrock, the food industry (SQF), and Government agencies. This role ensures accurate formulation, mixing, and staging of ingredients while maintaining compliance with production schedules. The incumbent will provide leadership to batching personnel, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, and efficiency.


Job Duties:


  • Supervises daily batching operations, including ingredient preparation, mixing, and transfer to processing lines.
  • Provides direction, assigns responsibilities, and motivates the batching team to achieve department goals.
  • Ensures all formulas, recipes, and specifications are followed precisely; inspects what is expected.
  • Identifies and addresses safety hazards, coaching personnel in safe work practices and PPE compliance.
  • Accurately interprets production schedules and work orders to ensure correct ingredients, quantities, and sequencing.
  • Completes all required documentation and checklists related to batching and ingredient handling.
  • Assists with troubleshooting and resolving batching or mixing issues, escalating when necessary.
  • Reports problems with quality, processes, equipment malfunctions, and materials to the Production Manager and Maintenance team.
  • Ensures all changeovers, start-ups, and shutdowns are performed safely and efficiently.
  • Maintains accurate inventory of raw materials and assists with material movements in NetSuite.
  • Follows all quality system and safety protocols by safely operating batching equipment, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and contributing to established safety goals.
  • Supports training and development of batching operators to improve skills and performance.
  • Willingness to work weekends or holidays occasionally due to production demands.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Department and Company Management.

Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a manufacturing or food production environment, with at least 2 years in, mixing, or related operations.
  • Ability to run and troubleshoot batching and mixing equipment proficiently.
  • Associate degree in Management, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, including speaking, writing, active listening, and following instructions.
  • Demonstrated leadership and training abilities.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude, including comfort with using tools for simple repairs.
  • Advanced knowledge of following specifications, formulas, and manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong initiative, ability to anticipate issues proactively
  • Sound math and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
