Specialist Series, Open Ranks, Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior

The Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, University of California Irvine, anticipates openings in the Specialist Series (Junior, Assistant, Associate, and Full Specialist).

Specialists contribute to research and scholarly activities in highly specialized areas and may participate in collaborative research projects. These positions support ongoing academic and research programs and are not typically independent investigator roles.

Candidates should have a background in disciplines including, but not limited to, psychiatry, neuroscience, genetics and genomics, neuroimaging, behavioral and cognitive science, addiction research, child and adolescent mental health, computational psychiatry, psychopharmacology, data science, and population mental health, or other relevant research areas employing quantitative, clinical, or translational approaches. This is an ongoing recruitment. Salaries are based on University of California salary scales, which are dependent on academic rank and step, and commensurate with experience.

B.S., M.S. and/or Ph.D. candidates with experience in but not limited to, psychiatry, neuroscience, genetics and genomics, neuroimaging, behavioral and cognitive science, addiction research, child and adolescent mental health, computational psychiatry, psychopharmacology, data science, and population mental health, or other relevant research areas employing quantitative, clinical, or translational approaches.

Junior Specialists - Appointees to the Junior rank should possess a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or equivalent research experience.

Assistant Specialists - Appointees to the Assistant rank should possess a master's degree (or equivalent degree), or five years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization.

Associate Specialists - Appointees to the Associate rank should possess a master's degree (or equivalent degree) or five to ten years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization. Associate Specialists are normally expected to have a record of academic accomplishments, including contributions to published or in-press research in the field and a demonstrated record of University and/or public service.

Full Specialists - Appointees to the Full rank should possess a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization. Specialists at full rank are normally expected to have a significant record of academic accomplishments, including contributions to published or in-press research in the field, professional recognition in the field, and a demonstrated record of University and/or public service.
