Role Overview
VersAbility Resources is seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Career Specialist II to lead career assessment, vocational evaluation, career pathway planning, employer engagement, and employment outcome tracking for workforce development participants. This position serves as the primary career development professional within the Workforce Development division and plays a critical role in aligning training programs with labor market demand while ensuring students successfully transition into meaningful employment.

The Career Specialist II will centralize career services across all workforce training pathways, including maritime, manufacturing, logistics, information technology, and future workforce programs. This role will establish standardized career planning processes, conduct formal vocational evaluations, manage employer partnerships, oversee student and employer tracking systems, partner with stakeholders, and provide data-driven reporting to leadership.

The ideal candidate possesses expertise in workforce development, vocational assessment, labor market analysis, employer relations, teaching, and career counseling, with a strong commitment to supporting individuals of all abilities in achieving sustainable employment outcomes.

What You'll Do
*Conduct career assessments, vocational evaluations, and individualized career planning.
*Guide participants through workforce training enrollment and career development.
*Develop and manage Registered Apprenticeship Programs and work-based learning opportunities.
*Build partnerships with employers, workforce agencies, educational institutions, and community organizations.
*Research labor market trends and align career pathways with employer needs.
*Provide career coaching, resume assistance, interview preparation, job search, and placement support.
*Track participant progress, employment outcomes, and workforce performance metrics.
*Prepare reports, dashboards, and data to support leadership and program success.
*Coordinate employer events, hiring fairs, networking opportunities, and community outreach.
*Collaborate with instructors, workforce partners, and stakeholders to improve participant outcomes.
*Represent VersAbility TECH at workforce development events and employer meetings.
*Perform other duties as assigned.

Schedule
This is a full-time, exempt position scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (40 hours per week).

Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required to support employer events, job fairs, workforce development activities, community outreach, or other organizational initiatives. Local travel throughout the Hampton Roads region is required to meet with employers, educational institutions, workforce partners, and community organizations.

Qualifications
*Bachelor's degree in Workforce Development, Human Services, Rehabilitation Counseling, Education, Psychology, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field required.
*Master's degree in a related field preferred.
*Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in workforce development, career counseling, vocational rehabilitation, education, employment services, talent development, or a related field.
*Experience administering vocational evaluations, career assessments, or workforce readiness tools preferred.
*Experience developing employer partnerships, workforce engagement initiatives, and employment placement strategies.
*Experience collecting, analyzing, and reporting workforce performance data.
*Experience working with individuals with disabilities and diverse populations preferred.
*Experience supporting apprenticeship, internship, or work-based learning programs preferred.
*Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
*Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC), Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP), Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF), or similar certification preferred.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This position operates primarily in a professional office environment with frequent travel to employer locations, educational institutions, workforce partners, job fairs, conferences, and community events throughout the region.

The role requires frequent standing, walking, presenting, facilitating workshops, conducting employer visits, and transporting recruitment or presentation materials up to 25 pounds. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while balancing office and community-based responsibilities are essential.
