Position Overview

The Assistant Project Manager coordinates daily project activities to help ensure work is completed on schedule, on budget, and within scope. They support the Project Manager by managing documentation, tracking progress and communicating updates between teams, clients and vendors.

Key Responsibilities



  • Develops, maintains, updates, distributes, and manages estimates.


  • Observes and monitors the performance of the Superintendent.
  • Effectively manages change order and billings process.
  • Develops and maintains an effective working relationship with subcontractors while managing subcontractor performance.
  • Ensures the project meets quality and performance specifications and regulatory requirements.


  • Effectively manages the start-up of the project.
  • Controls expenses and costs on the project to keep the project on budget.


  • Reviews costs against estimates for each total project and tracks variances weekly


  • Updates labor productivity reports and makes appropriate changes in the field.
  • Builds and maintains a positive working relationship with the client and the client's agents.
  • Establishes clear safety expectations for all on the project site, and monitors for compliance with safety policies and practices and corrects any safety violations.



Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in project engineering, construction project management, or related activities with exposure to projects of moderate scope.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction principles/practices.
