Description

Our Night Shift Production Supervisor provides frontline leadership and operational oversight for night shift manufacturing operations within Liberty Plastics. This role ensures production goals, safety standards, quality expectations, and operational KPIs are achieved through effective leadership, employee development, and coordination of extrusion and plastics manufacturing processes. The position adds value to the business by driving operational efficiency, supporting Operational Excellence (OE) initiatives, reducing waste and downtime, and promoting a safe, high-performing work environment.

This full-time position reports directly to the Vice President of Plastics at our Baldwyn, MS facility.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead day-to-day plastics manufacturing operations by directing employees, monitoring workflow, and ensuring production schedules and customer expectations are achieved.
  • Drive operational KPI performance including safety, quality, productivity, downtime reduction, scrap reduction, labor efficiency, and housekeeping.
  • Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture through observation-based safety programs, safety huddles, hazard recognition, and compliance with company safety procedures.
  • Support Operational Excellence (OE) and continuous improvement initiatives focused on process efficiency, waste reduction, standard work, and manufacturing performance.
  • Oversee product quality processes and production audits to ensure compliance with customer specifications and company quality standards.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, Scheduling, and other departments to resolve operational issues and improve equipment reliability and production flow.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop employees through training, performance feedback, accountability, and ongoing leadership support.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, timekeeping, and overtime needs to support efficient labor utilization and operational demands.
  • Maintain accurate production and operational reporting through JD Edwards and other manufacturing systems.
  • Escalate operational concerns, production risks, staffing issues, or equipment challenges to facility leadership as needed.
  • Other duties, as assigned

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution and 5+ years of manufacturing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of supervisory, team lead, and/or manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and employee development skills.
  • Strong relationship-building and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing operations, production processes, and operational KPI management.
  • Experience supporting Operational Excellence (OE), Lean Manufacturing, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with manufacturing systems, data entry, and production reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and additional hours as required by business needs.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree preferred (Business, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field).
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in plastics manufacturing, extrusion, or related manufacturing operations preferred.
  • JD Edwards experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change initiatives and drive operational improvements.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher preferred.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The starting base salary range for this position is $76,000 - $78,000 per year. The compensation posted is the anticipated pay for the position at the time of the posting. We may pay above or below posted amount based on several factors, including, but not limited to education and/or certifications, skills, experience, or work location. Some positions may qualify for additional compensation in the form of bonuses.
