Consumers Energy is seeking a Building Utility Worker Specialist (Electrical) to support the maintenance, operation, and repair of building systems and infrastructure. This role combines advanced technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, including directing small crews and coordinating work activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

Under general supervision, the Building Utility Worker Specialist will regularly direct up to four employees in the maintenance, operation, and repair of:






    • Buildings and facilities
    • Equipment and systems
    • Grounds, yards, drives, and walkways




  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and install building systems, including:

    • HVACR mechanical systems
    • Building electrical systems




  • Perform work requiring appropriate permits and/or licensing, including but not limited to:

    • Installation of electrical circuits and components
    • Repair, replacement, and installation of HVACR equipment and components
    • Installation and modification of ductwork and hydronic system components




  • Coordinate and oversee electrical and mechanical repair work
  • Perform other similar or related duties as assigned



Minimum Qualifications (Electrical)

Candidates must meet all of the following:



  • Meet all qualifications of a Building Utility Worker-A
  • Hold a valid State of Michigan Master Electrician License (must be maintained)
  • Minimum 7 years of experience as an electrician in commercial and/or industrial environments
  • Demonstrated current, hands-on field experience



Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience leading or directing work crews
  • Broad expertise across both electrical and mechanical building systems
  • Strong troubleshooting and coordination skills
