The Department of Theatre, Dance, and Digital Film at Utah Tech University (UT) in St. George, Utah, invites applications for a full-time, 1-year visiting faculty position, starting Fall Semester 2026. The mission of the Dance program at Utah Tech University is to provide a diverse population of students the opportunity to achieve their dance education goals by developing the skills of embodied practice and scholarly and creative inquiry. Responsibilities
-
- Teach movement/technique dance courses (i.e., ballet, modern, jazz, urban/hip hop, tap, aerial, etc.); creative-based courses such as Improvisation and Composition; and theoretical courses within the dance major curriculum during fall and spring semesters.
- Develop course content, outcomes, and evaluation systems for course offerings; provide assessment of course offerings in consultation with other dance faculty.
- Engage in creative research for Dance program productions as assigned by the Program Director.
- Actively promote the Dance program and recruit new students.
- Perform defined campus-wide duties, including holding office hours, attendance at department and division meetings, and adherence to college, division, and university policies and procedures.
- Carry out special assignments, such as serving as director of Dance program productions, as requested by the Program Director.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- MFA or Ph.D. required; area of specialization is open. Expertise/ability to teach in more than one dance form preferred; special consideration for the ability to teach Aerial Dance Technique courses.
- Focus, interest, and expertise in teaching at an institution of higher learning required. Desire to work in a small department where all faculty are involved in teaching, choreography, and service preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly with students, staff, and colleagues, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to teach open enrollment populations.
- Interest and expertise in interdisciplinary work and/or musical theatre projects in collaboration with the Theatre and Digital Film Programs.
- Demonstrate extensive experience in choreographic works, scholarship, and/or performance.

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Full-time (9-month) one-year faculty position. Annual salary of $57,000, with a desired start date of fall semester 2026.
