Key Details:



  • Compensation: $2528/hr. commensurate with experience
  • Start date : June 2026
  • End date: October 2026
  • Location: Tehachapi, California
  • Housing: Housing stipend will be provided to applicants that qualify
  • Additional details: Vehicle will be provided or mileage reimbursed. Company vehicles are equipped with telematics systems for safety, operational efficiency, and compliance purposes. PS units and other field equipment will be provided by WEST; however, field technicians must be equipped with binoculars.





Job Description:



  • Fieldwork will require long days in an air-conditioned tower scanning and monitoring GPS locations on California condors and interacting with staff on the ground to help active monitor condor activity.
  • Early morning/sunrise starts are expected on some days.
  • Work is full-time and is expected 16 hours per day for two days of work (Saturday and Sunday) and overtime is paid accordingly could be necessary depending on monitoring requirements.

Job Requirements

Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in natural resources, wildlife management, wildlife biology or equivalent degree preferred.
  • Highly proficient in identification of Mojave Desert bird species by sight and sound and able to work independently and interact positively with project manager, field supervisor, and other coworkers.
  • Candidates experienced in California condor and golden eagle identification will be given preference.
  • Employee must be able to appear for work on time (surveys often begin as early as sunrise), maintain focus for long periods of time, follow instructions from manager and team leader, maintain positive attitude, and accept guidance and constructive criticism. Precise and thorough data collection is essential.



Physical Requirements:



  • Applicants must be able to stay attentive for up to 16 hours a day



After an offer of employment is made, the candidate must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug screening, and a DMV records check that meets WEST's minimum criteria to operate a motor vehicle on behalf of the company. A valid driver's license will be required. Candidates must adhere to all health and safety requirements.
