Job Summary

The Systems and Application Administrator, Sr. position at Phoenix College is an advanced-level, highly cross-functional technical role focused primarily on managing enterprise Windows endpoint management server infrastructure and optimizing high-density campus wireless networks. This position also serves as the primary coordinator of IT infrastructure for college-wide projects, and manages a portfolio of software licenses and licensing servers, often interfacing with a wide range of individuals across the campus and the district.

Essential Functions

30% - Managing Windows endpoint management server infrastructure. including Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Management (MECM), Recast Management, Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), and Sassafras IT Asset Management (ITAM)

20% - Wireless network assessment, configuration, optimization, and upgrades

15% - Management of software licenses, license management servers, and services

15% - Management of group policy and specialized endpoint configurations (i.e., SharedPC and Kiosk modes)

10% - Virtual server configuration and deployment within the VMWare environment

10% - Coordination of IT involvement in college-wide construction projects, and other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in information technology or related field with four (4) years of system and application administration experience in an area related to the assignment. (Reference position-specific responsibilities above to determine experience in the area of assignment.)

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree, education, certification, and directly related full-time work experience as described above, sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job, such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

1. Experience managing enterprise Windows Endpoint Infrastructure Management (MECM/SCCM) server infrastructure.
2. Experience with wireless network engineering, optimization, and management.
3. Experience with managing Active Directory and Group Policy Objects (GPO).
4. Experience with working with software license procurement and management.
5. Experience with managing virtual machines in an on-premise hypervisor environment.
6. Experience managing cloud-based server resources.
7. Experience working cross-functionally with other departments as part of major institutional projects.
8. One (1) year of full-time, relevant MCCCD experience within the previous two (2) years.

Special Requirements

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D Driver's License may be required for some assignments.

Preferred: Technical/vendor certifications may be preferred.

Working Conditions: Work is routinely performed in an indoor office environment. This position is primarily an on-site, in-person role, with some hybrid work options available based on departmental needs.

Travel: Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate's own expense.
