Position Summary

African American Student Services (AASS) is seeking a creative, motivated, and detail-oriented student videographer to support storytelling, marketing, and outreach efforts. The student videographer will capture and produce high-quality video content that highlights the impact of AASS programs, services, and student experiences.

This position will be responsible for documenting AASS signature programs, events, and initiatives throughout the academic year. The videographer will assist with all stages of content creation, including planning, filming, editing, and producing short-form and long-form videos for recruitment, fundraising, marketing, and program recap purposes.

The selected student will collaborate with AASS staff to create engaging visual content that showcases student success, community engagement, leadership development, and the overall mission of the department.

Primary Responsibilities:
Film and photograph AASS signature programs, events, workshops, and celebrations.
Create promotional videos to support student recruitment and engagement efforts.
Develop video content that supports fundraising campaigns and donor stewardship initiatives.
Produce event recap videos and highlight reels for social media, websites, presentations, and reports.
Edit video footage using industry-standard editing software.
Assist with storyboarding, scripting, and creative planning for video projects.
Organize, archive, and maintain digital media files.
Collaborate with staff and student leaders to ensure content aligns with departmental goals and branding.
Meet project deadlines while maintaining high production quality.


Minimum Qualifications

Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.



Preferred Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Current University of New Mexico student eligible for student employment.
Demonstrated experience with videography and video editing.
Proficiency with video editing software.
Ability to operate cameras, and audio equipment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends to cover events.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience creating content for social media platforms.
Experience interviewing subjects and capturing event-based content.
Strong storytelling abilities and creative vision.
Interest in higher education, student engagement, diversity initiatives, and community-centered programming.
Previous experience producing promotional, documentary-style, or event recap videos.
