Position Summary: The college of Liberal Arts and Sciences is seeking a qualified candidate to teach as a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor of Spanish. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin immediately; position will remain open until filled.Start date is January 2027. This is a residential appointment, and campus presence is required.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:
- 4/4 teaching load, scholarship, and service.
- Teaching load will include 1000- and 2000-level foundational Spanish courses in addition to a variety of upper-division courses. Courses may be offered in-person, hybrid, or online.
- Serve the institution and remain active in the profession by maintaining a consistent record of scholarly research that includes publications and presentations in peer-reviewed venues
- Mentorship of student research
- Regular and predictable attendance required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Ph.D in Spanish required (ABD considered)
- Second language acquisition
- Expertise in, but not limited to, one or more of the following fields: Latin American literature, translation/interpretation, Latin American culture and civilization.
- Experience in linguistics and/or study abroad programs is a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Commitment to teaching excellence with a strong generalist academic background
- Ability to work effectively in a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

Physical Demand and Working Conditions: Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a consistent amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
