A Brief Overview

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia is seeking a Simulation Operations Technician. This position will take place at the Main Hospital and the shift will be based off of the operational need.

Technical experience is preferred.

Simulation Operations Technician is multifaceted role responsible for assisting, supporting and managing simulation technology in healthcare education. In coordination with the Program Manager and simulation staff/faculty, the technician ensures efficient operation and maintenance of simulators (software and hardware), task trainers, virtual/augmented reality, and related multimedia, along with supporting cutting-edge simulation environments to ensure high quality, safe, and consistent experiential experience for all leaners.

What you will do

  • 1. Provide technical support for all simulation operations
  • Provide technical assistance and support to all instructors and CHOP staff using the Center for Simulation
  • Understand the use and operation of different simulator technologies ranging from anatomic models and task trainers to screen-based simulations to full body patient simulators and virtual reality
  • Coordinate DTS to support all computers, hardware and software systems utilized by the Center
  • Provide technical support for computer based multimedia systems and their components, including operation of digital cameras, video cameras, audio/video mixer, digital analog converter, monitors, LCD projectors, and other equipment
  • Maintain digital audiovisual hardware and software systems to record simulated session with subsequent editing and transfer to archival format for analysis
  • 2. Assist during simulation-based training sessions
  • Provides support to Simulation Educators and/or Faculty in preparation, set up, disassembly and maintenance of the necessary equipment and supplies for each simulation activity.
  • Programs software to model simulator's physiological responses when needed
  • Operates simulators and task trainers during simulation activities when needed
  • 3. Support Center daily operations
  • Maintain equipment inventory database and update for repairs and new purchases
  • Conduct routine equipment maintenance, inventory and updates
  • Coordinate installation of software and hardware upgrades and maintain functionality of simulator components as directed by manufacturer support
  • Interface with equipment manufacturers regarding equipment troubleshooting and systems problems, maintain record of repair
  • Coordinate simulation program information management including resource scheduling, training, scenario and inventory databases
  • Manage medical supplies and equipment needed to enhance delivery of simulation activities with timely ordering and availability
  • Participate in training faculty and/or staff in the operation of different simulation modalities
  • 4. Maintain expertise in simulation technology
  • Maintain proficiency in existing and emerging technologies, including basic theory, design and implementation
  • Evaluate new equipment and identify opportunities for technology improvement and integration into healthcare education
  • Participate in technical training as necessary

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED Required
  • Associate's Degree in technology or health related field of study. Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • At least one (1) year in a healthcare field Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to operate a CHOP vehicle / be insured on a CHOP policy. (Required proficiency)

  • Flexibility and adaptability in dynamic environment with the ability to work off shifts (early morning, evenings, weekends as needed) (Required proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications

  • Driver's License - Department of Motor Vehicles - upon hire - Required and
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association (AHA) - within 6 months - Required

$29.50 - $37.61 Hourly

Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs. If you're working part-time, your pay will be adjusted accordingly.
