Summary of the Job:

As a Lead Cloud Engineer, you will provide the technical, engineering and thought leadership needed to deliver first-class cloud solutions (on the AWS platform) at FNBO. You will help mature cloud practices across the enterprise, enhance our cloud strategy, and provide technical leadership support in cloud efforts. As a partner to our software development organization, you will help identify use cases for improving release management pipelines and developing consumable infrastructure/configuration as code (IaC/CaC). As a Cloud Architect, you will enable the organization to leverage advanced cloud-based technologies to increase FNBO's operational effectiveness, time to market, system resiliency, and application responsiveness. You will play a key role in helping FNBO achieve its cloud computing strategy and driving our IT transformation efforts.

About This Role:

  • Lead and implement cloud system architectures to support the ongoing cloud transformation of FNBO's business.
  • Utilizes industry best practices to continuously develop and maintain a resilient, secure, auditable, scalable, and efficient cloud-hosted platform to support the ongoing cloud transformation for FNBO.
  • Provide strategic recommendations for cloud design, infrastructure design, software development design/architecture, application frameworks, and/or interfaces.
  • Define and document architecture designs, product roadmaps, technical guidance, and principles/standards for our cloud environment.
  • Drive cloud security and compliance requirements into the cloud architecture framework, including for the data integration points with on-premise and other cloud systems.
  • Take a lead role on technical projects and serve as a technical mentor to other members of the Cloud Operations team. Stay engaged with FNBO cloud projects to ensure solutions are built consistently and aligned to the expressed cloud architecture.
  • Identify, evaluate, and drive adoption of tools and automation to provide self-service capabilities to the organization for building, configuring, maintaining, and monitoring cloud-based infrastructure and cloud platform services (Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code).
  • Leverage technologies (such as Terraform and Ansible) and scripting languages to build automations to enhance the efficiency and reliability of processes.
  • Help design and drive the implementation of our Observability strategy including the adoption of Service level objectives (SLOs) and service level indicators (SLIs).
  • Leverage the observability platform (Dynatrace) to identify and address cloud infrastructure deficiencies, availability gaps, performance bottlenecks, and improve mean time to resolution (MTTR).
  • Assist in the troubleshooting of any major (P1) production issues. Escalate support issues to vendors (when necessary) to drive timely resolution of issues for critical systems.
  • Be a trusted advisor for Developers, Engineers, Architects and Support organizations by providing technical leadership, deep technology expertise, and architecture expertise for cloud technologies.
  • Create and deliver documentation and presentations to developers and operations teams to share knowledge (Architecture diagrams, system flows, run books, procedures, etc.).
  • Actively participate and help lead the community of practice for cloud technologies.
  • Follow emerging industry trends and build proof of concepts to evaluate current cloud technologies, concepts, designs, and provide new recommendations.
  • Mentor, train, and lead fellow team members and peers through design and implementation decisions to achieve balance between strategic design and tactical needs for the company initiatives.

The Ideal Candidate for This Role:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Technical field or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of IT work experience, including technical/engineering design and deployment, IT lifecycle management and infrastructure planning and operations
  • Extensive experience with server administration (Linux preferred), networking or infrastructure required
  • 4+ years of engineering experience running mission-critical workloads on a major cloud platform (AWS preferred)
  • Extensive Experience with AWS services:
    • Networking: VPC / Subnets / Route Tables / VPG / Security Groups
    • Compute: EC2 / AutoScaling / Load Balancers
    • Database: RDS / Aurora / DynamoDB
    • Other: SQS / SNS / S3 / IAM / EKS / CloudWatch / CloudFront / Kinesis / Lambda
  • Extensive experience administering container systems such as Kubernetes, EKS/ECS, Docker
  • Extensive experience with Infrastructure and Application Monitoring concepts
  • Extensive background in scripting and/or programming languages (BASH, Perl, Ruby, Python, YAML, Java, etc.)
  • Experience in managing cloud costs
  • Experience in migrating on-premises applications to the cloud
  • Cloud certification(s) from the major cloud providers (ideally AWS, but will consider GCP, Azure)
  • Advanced knowledge in designing & implementing infrastructure-as-a-code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible, and GitLab
  • Advanced knowledge of networking, firewalls, load balancers etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of private cloud and hybrid cloud configurations required

Knowledge of ITSM delivery

Candidates must possess unrestricted work authorization and not require future sponsorship.

Compensation:

Compensation range (base pay): $118,307.00-$201,122.00

This role may have a specific starting pay within this range.

Final compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.

Work Environment:

It is anticipated that the incumbent in this role will work in a hybrid capacity, balancing in-person collaboration three (3) days a week with remote flexibility two (2) days a week. As part of our team, you'll experience the energy and relationship-building of face-to-face collaboration while still enjoying the flexibility of remote workdays. We provide the tools and technology to ensure seamless transitions between work environments, supporting your productivity wherever you are. Please note that work location is subject to change based on business needs.
