Department Overview
The Marketing Division is responsible for the sales and retention of new and existing group accounts, maintenance and service of such accounts and upgrading of business to these accounts. It is also responsible for individual, senior products and long term care sales and retention. Sales and product support involve the entire scope of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama coverage, including health, dental, long term care, life and account-based products. The Marketing Division is also responsible for product development and management, product profitability, advertising, direct marketing, marketing communications and marketing research and development. Primary Responsibilities
The Proposal Manager is responsible for supporting the growth and retention of our core and ancillary businesses by managing complex RFP efforts and optimizing response processes to support corporate growth strategy and goals. Proposal Managers must be able to manage a high volume of RFP, RFI, RFR, and Survey (RFx) responses while maintaining high quality standards, enabling the team to continue to meet all client and consultant imposed deadlines at times of peak project volume. Proposal Managers use an extensive skill base to manage multiple RFx responses at different development stages from receipt through development and quality assurance activities to submission and post-submission follow up phases. This position must establish a deep knowledge base of comprehensive project management strategy, companywide operational knowledge and relationships, and advanced writing and editing abilities necessary to manage RFx responses, ensuring high quality and timeliness, and grow development process proficiencies. Proposal Managers are instrumental in developing communication strategy that leverages the Company's value proposition and differentiators specific to the client to increase win rates, retaining current business and supporting corporate growth goals with new business wins. Proposal Managers are also instrumental in developing and maintaining operational efficiencies that enable the Team to identify win strategy improvement opportunities and manage larger volumes of responses. All of these support functions are ongoing responsibilities, in addition to RFx response management, that continually improve Team operations and overall response quality to improve win rates and support corporate business growth goals. Proposal Managers must have a deep understanding of our business, the competitive landscape, and the needs of our clients in order to spin up, develop, optimize, and manage the Company's response to a constant stream of RFx requests concurrently with continuously changing requirements. Proposal Managers work closely with subject matter experts across the organization (Product Management, Information Technology, Operations, Plan Performance, Underwriting, etc.), corporate leadership, and Sales and Marketing professionals on a continuous stream of complex, concurrent RFx responses, ensuring resulting submissions are compelling and win opportunities are maximized. Work Location
The work schedule for this position will be hybrid (onsite/remote). Business areas reserve the right to require associates to return to the office as needed, based on performance or other business considerations.
