Instructor, MSW Field Education
School of Social Work The School of Social Work seeks Job Duties and Responsibilities: Teaching/Field Liaison * Assist in planning and implementation of the School's field education program * Assist in the overall training and orientation of field instructors * Provide consultation and mediation, as necessary, to field instructors and partner organizations * Participate in selecting, monitoring and evaluating field placement sites * Evaluate student learning experiences, progress, and outcomes * Participate in the field education planning process * Teach field education seminar courses * Conduct site visits to field placements, demonstrating knowledge of field practices, procedures, and policies * Identify and develop new field placement sites, including fostering relationships with potential field instructors * Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, field instructors, and other field placement stakeholders * Monitor student progress, assessing performance and role of field placement site in education of student * Develop performance improvement plans and remediation plans for students as needed * Provide additional support to students who are members of underrepresented groups or students who are struggling in placement * Keep current with changes in practice, policy, and licensing that affect the quality of field placements Service * Participation in School committees and taskforces as appropriate to the role * Community-based public engagement * Additional responsibilities, as assigned, to support the mission of the Field Education Program and the School of Social Work Minimum Qualifications Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work with at least two years of post-graduation experience. Ability to attain LSW or LCSW in Illinois within 6 months of hire is required. Preferred Qualifications Illinois Licensed Social Worker (LSW) is preferred at the time of hire. Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), prior experience as a field instructor, experience in social work education or on a university campus is highly desirable. We are especially interested in candidates who have specialized qualifications such as bilingual practice experience, PEL licensure, knowledge of social work sites in rural and urban Illinois including Chicago, Rockford, Peoria, and other strategic outreach areas. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences, as well as excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Participation in meetings and events on the Urbana campus is required. The ability to travel for site development is required, including travel across Chicagoland and throughout Illinois.
