At Sonos we want to create the ultimate listening experience for our customers and know that it starts by listening to each other. As part of the Sonos team, you'll collaborate with people of all styles, skill sets, and backgrounds to realize our vision while fostering a community where everyone feels included and empowered to do the best work of their lives.

This role is located on-site at one of our offices

This position is office-based, meaning regular in-person collaboration or use of office equipment is essential to maximize effectiveness for this team and/or position. Qualified applicants must live within commuting distance of New York and should expect to be in office a minimum of 4 days per week.

Reporting to the Head of Communications, you will lead the Global PR and Corporate Communications function at Sonos, charged with building and maintaining brand reputation and awareness through earned press coverage and journalist advocacy. This role sits within the Communications team at Sonos, which also encompasses influencer/community and owned social.

You are responsible for developing global PR and corporate communications strategies that deliver against business and marketing objectives, spanning brand and product PR, executive positioning, and thought leadership.

Strategies should carefully balance global ambitions with local market nuance and needs, and include guidance and frameworks that maintain brand consistency while allowing for local adaptation. Development and execution of these strategies will require close collaboration with Brand Strategy, Brand Creative, Brand Marketing, Commercial Marketing, and regional marketing teams, as well as Executive Communications, Investor Relations, and CX, and you will be an active voice in shaping the strategies, ideas, and narratives that define how Sonos shows up.

You will have the opportunity to partner with the Head of Communications in building the Corporate Communications function from the ground up. This includes vision-setting, shaping processes and assessing what the function needs to run well. You will also define the lanes and shared responsibilities that determine how Global PR and Corporate Communications operates within the Communications team, the broader Marketing org, and across the business.

Your success will be measured by your ability to earn coverage of the right quality in the right places, build a coherent and credible corporate narrative, and operate as a trusted strategic partner across the organization.

What You'll Do:

  • Shape and Implement Global PR and Corporate Communications Strategies: Develop and own the annual vision for both functions, including global strategies, narrative frameworks, and the playbooks that define how Sonos earns media attention, shapes its corporate story, and shows up consistently across brand and product.

  • Build Corporate Communications: Establish the corporate communications function from the ground up, covering executive positioning, thought leadership, company narrative, and stakeholder communications. Define how Sonos speaks about itself to press, analysts, and the broader industry, and ensure that story is consistent and credible.

  • Enable the Regional Earned Team: Develop the global strategies, frameworks, and playbooks the regional earned team uses to build and execute locally relevant plans, creating freedom within a clear framework so regional execution stays coherent with the global narrative.

  • Influence the Narrative Upstream: Work with Marketing peers early in the planning process - be an active voice in the strategies, ideas, and narratives that define how Sonos shows up, not just the function that distributes them.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Brand Strategy, Brand Creative, Brand Marketing, and Commercial Marketing to integrate PR and corporate communications into broader campaigns and initiatives. Work with Executive Communications, Investor Relations, and CX on programs and communications that extend beyond the core marketing system.

  • Content Creation and Messaging: Oversee the development of press materials, messaging toolkits, executive communications, and thought leadership content, ensuring everything is on-narrative, accurate, and consistent across markets.

  • Performance Measurement and Reporting: Establish KPIs and report regularly on PR and corporate communications activity and its impact on team and business goals.

  • Budget and Agency Management: Manage PR agency relationships and the PR budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and clear accountability for outcomes.

You Are:

  • An engaged and passionate PR leader who knows what it takes to drive successful earned stories and media relations

  • A strategic and strong communicator, with a proven track record in executing global public relations, media relations and communications programs that ladder into larger brand and marketing strategies

  • Experienced in corporate communications as well as earned media - you can build an executive positioning strategy and develop a product launch PR plan in the same quarter

  • Highly organized, positive and proactive with the ability to multi-task across numerous projects

  • A strong writer and editor across formats: press releases, messaging frameworks, executive talking points, pitch notes, thought leadership

  • Skilled at designing global communications frameworks that regional teams can adapt and localize without losing brand consistency

  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity - you make decisions and move work forward when direction isn't fully defined, and you know when to pause, align, and course-correct before going too far

  • Can plan, lead and activate local and cross-functional communications projects

  • Comfortable in and thrive in high-paced environment

  • Both an individual self-starter and collaborative team player

  • Agile and responsive to change.

  • A love for navigating a diverse set of countries, partners, cultures and languages.

  • Willing to travel when required

What You'll Need:

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of PR and/or communications experience, with meaningful time in both agency and in-house environments

  • Proven experience leading PR across brand and product - with exposure to culture and lifestyle storytelling and the ability to lead programs in those areas when global initiatives call for it

  • Experience building or managing a corporate communications function or program

  • Track record leading global PR programs with regional complexity across multiple markets

  • Strong writing and editing skills across formats - press materials, messaging frameworks, executive communications, media pitches

  • Experience designing communications frameworks for regional adaptation and localization

  • Demonstrated ability to manage PR agency relationships and budgets

  • Comfortable contributing at all levels on a lean team with high standards

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • Proficiency in earned media measurement and analytics platforms, with the ability to track, interpret, and report on communications performance

  • Familiarity with AI tools and how to apply them in a modern communications workflow - for research, drafting, analysis, and operational efficiency
