| Position Highlights |
The Custodian I position is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in university buildings and grounds. This role performs routine custodial and basic preventative maintenance tasks and special events support under supervision, following established procedures and schedules. The position supports the daily operations of the university by ensuring facilities are clean, orderly, and welcoming to students, staff, and visitors. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. | Duties & Responsibilities |
- General
Cleaning and Sanitation: Clean and sanitize assigned classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, and public areas following established schedules and procedures. - Waste
Management and Restocking Supplies: Collect and properly dispose of trash and recyclables; restock restroom and facility supplies such as soap, paper products, and sanitizers. - Equipment
Operation and Care: Operate and maintain custodial equipment including vacuums, floor polishers, and steam cleaners while using cleaning chemicals safely and properly. - Special
Projects and Support Services: Assist with deep cleaning projects (e.g., carpet shampooing, floor waxing, window washing), laundry tasks, and provide courteous assistance to building occupants and visitors. - Special Event
Support: Involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the cleanliness and organization of event spaces.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of
cleaning equipment, products, techniques, standards and safety procedures. - Ability to
maintain a high standard of cleanliness and ensure all areas of the facility are kept clean and in sanitary conditions. - Proven
organizational and time management skills. - Strong customer
service skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb stairs, and lift up to 50 lbs.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is
required. - Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Exceptional customer service experience.
- Two years or more of institutional custodial experience.
- Experience operating carpet cleaning and floor finishing machines. For example: buffers, extractors, auto scrubbers, and propane burnishers.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses.Thesereports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
