The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate deep engagement in teaching media and in media production, both teaching solo and in a teaching-team. Experience in teaching, as well as a commitment to working with diverse and underserved student populations and to working across significant differences (race, class, gender, sexual orientation, etc.) are also required. We are particularly interested in candidates committed to exploring how media can be used to further student collaboration and expand access to media practices. |

Pre-Orientation course, The 5-Day Media Challenge which will be a 2-credit, in-person intensive co-taught with a media faculty member Sept. 19-23, (ii) in winter quarter, a 2-credit
Media Foundations course, and (iii) in spring quarter, repeat the same 2-credit Media Foundations course. During Pre-Orientation, faculty pairs are together expected to evaluate 40 students (~20 students/faculty), and during the regular academic year, faculty are responsible for 25 students/faculty. This arrangement allows for in-depth, interdisciplinary and experiential learning, and the building of strong learning communities. Ideally faculty would support in advising students as they reflect on their learning process, develop a pathway of study, and formulate their own areas of concentration. Our teaching is student-centered, which means we are interested in helping students develop strong skills in critical thinking, problem solving, communication and collaborative work. Because over 80% of our students come from underserved and marginalized groups, we are particularly invested in approaches to teaching that emphasize diversity and equity, that provide opportunities for challenge and growth, and that foster a learning environment where all are welcome and all can learn from each other.
