Senior Electrical Engineer | Germantown, MD

IMEG is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer in Germantown, MD, to lead design efforts for moderate to complex building electrical projects and support the delivery of larger, high-complexity work with limited oversight from senior staff. In this role, you will provide project direction, engineering solutions, and technical guidance while leading the analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings. You'll also work within project budgets, assist with training and mentoring, and collaborate across disciplines to help meet project goals and client expectations.

Principal Responsibilities

* Lead the analysis and design of electrical systems, including detailed designs, specifications, and calculations in accordance with code requirements and IMEG standards
* Perform site assessments and prepare detailed analysis and technical reports
* Collaborate with clients to understand project needs, gather requirements, and communicate technical information clearly
* Build and maintain strong client relationships through professional communication and responsive service
* Provide in-process reviews of electrical designs, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence
* Apply IMEG quality control processes to help ensure designs meet IMEG standards, industry standards, and client requirements
* Train, mentor, and motivate staff
* Provide technical assistance in resolving field issues with limited support from senior staff
* Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and electrical engineering best practices, and contribute to research and innovation efforts within IMEG
* Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work and help identify and mitigate potential risks associated with electrical systems
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions that support project goals
* Participate in project interviews and presentations

Required Qualifications and Skills

* Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, required
* Professional Engineer (PE) License required
* 7 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting industry

* Due to the nature of this work, applicants must be U.S. citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain the required U.S. government security clearance

* Adept in the technical aspects of one's discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems
* Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
* Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
* Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
* Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
* Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
* Strong training and mentoring skills
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
* Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
* Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
* Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
* Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays

Salary Ranges (by jurisdiction, in compliance with local laws):

State of Maryland Salary Range: $105,000- $170,000

Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay will be based on several factors including experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant. Other rewards may include annual bonuses and stock ownership options.
