Job Description

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Material Handler supports warehouse throughput by performing all core material movement activities, including picking, staging, loading, unloading, putaway, replenishment, and internal material transfers. This role ensures that products flow efficiently through the warehouse to support production schedules and customer service levels. Responsibilities include operating material handling equipment, maintaining location accuracy during putaway, completing required documentation, and following all safety and 5S standards. The Material Handler may flex to priority work centers based on operational demand and is expected to maintain a safetyfirst mindset while supporting daily warehouse operations.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Material Handling: Pick, pack, stage, load/unload trailers; perform putaway and replenishment using standard work and location accuracy.
  • Dock Operations: Support receiving and shipping activities, including BOL matching, ASN issues, and dock turn times.
  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other MHE; perform basic equipment checks.
  • Labelling & Locations: Maintain rack and bin labels; ensure materials are placed in correct locations.
  • Data & Systems: Complete paperwork and accurate computer entries for moves, receipts, and adjustments per procedure.
  • Quality & Nonconformance: Coordinate with Quality Control on nonconforming materials, quarantine locations, and disposition.
  • Safety & 5S: Follow all safety policies, PPE requirements, and housekeeping standards; promptly report hazards.
  • Flex Support: Assist other warehouse functions as needed based on operational priorities.

  • Knowledge: Warehouse operations, material flow, safety and 5S standards
  • Skills: Accurate material handling, basic math, data entry, communication, digital proficiency
  • Abilities: Lift up to 50 lbs, repetitive movement, attention to detail, adaptability to shifting priorities
  • Behaviors: Safetyfirst mindset, reliability, teamwork, process discipline, continuous improvement orientation

OTHER INFORMATION:

  • Physical Demands: Frequent lifting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50 lbs.; occasional climbing and working at heights.
  • Work Environment: Exposure to loud noise, outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, chemicals, temperature extremes, and wet/humid conditions.
  • Stress Factors: Throughput targets, dock turn times, shifting priorities, and maintaining accuracy under pace.
