Overview

Join Deutsche Bank's Fixed Income electronic trading technology team, where you will help build and enhance the high-performance, low-latency systems that power our global trading business. You will work in a globally distributed team across the United States and Europe, contributing across the full lifecycle of mission-critical trading platforms. In close partnership with quantitative researchers and traders, you will deliver technology solutions that drive performance, innovation, and competitive advantage.

What You'll Do

  • Design and Develop: Architect, implement, and maintain the C++ infrastructure for our sophisticated low-latency research and trading platforms

  • Enhance Trading Strategies: Partner directly with traders and quants to develop and integrate new features and logic into our suite of algorithmic trading strategies

  • Optimize System Performance: Proactively identify, analyze, and resolve performance bottlenecks and stability issues, ensuring our systems operate with maximum efficiency and resilience

  • Improve Engineering Standards: Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of our Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including participating in rigorous design discussions, code reviews, and advancing our automated testing and deployment pipelines

  • Global Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and trading teams across our US and European offices to deliver cohesive, globally consistent solutions on a shared codebase

How You'll Lead

  • Business Partnership: Forge a trusted partnership with desk quants and traders, translating their requirements into high-impact technological solutions that directly influence trading outcomes

  • Technological Influence: Collaborate with core technology platform teams to leverage and enhance shared infrastructure, driving best practices in low-latency engineering across the firm

  • Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning

Skills You'll Need

  • Exceptional C++ Proficiency: Deep expertise in modern C++ (preferably C++20 and higher) and its application in a Linux/Unix environment

  • Low-Latency Development: Proven experience in designing and building low-latency systems. This includes a strong understanding of concurrency, memory management, and performance optimization techniques (e.g., lock-free data structures, kernel bypass, cache-friendly design)

  • Computer Science Fundamentals: A strong grounding in computer science principles (data structures, algorithms, operating systems, network protocols), typically evidenced by a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience

  • Scripting and Automation: Proficiency with Python and shell scripting for tooling, automation, and data analysis

Skills That Will Help You Excel

  • Domain Knowledge: An ability to understand and interpret complex trading requirements, relate them to system architecture, and communicate solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Global Teamwork: A track record of building effective working relationships and collaborating successfully with globally distributed teams

  • Modern SDLC: Experience delivering software within a modern continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) environment

  • AI-Assisted Development: Practical experience using AI-powered tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) to accelerate development and improve code quality

  • Financial Protocols: Familiarity with electronic trading protocols (e.g., FIX) and market data distribution systems is a significant advantage

Expectations

It is the Bank's expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York City office in accordance with the Bank's hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York City is $155,000 to $252,500. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
