Thomson Reuters is seeking a visionary, commercially astute, and enterprise-scale technology leader to serve as Head of Commercial & Corporate Engineering. This is a pivotal executive role at the center of Thomson Reuters' digital transformation, responsible for modernizing the global commercial and corporate technology ecosystem that powers our Digital, Go-to-Market, Customer Success, Finance, and Enterprise Operations.

This leader will shape the digital backbone of Thomson Reuters - simplifying and modernizing core platforms, reducing friction across the Lead-to-Cash lifecycle, enabling new AI-driven monetization models, and delivering seamless, consumer-grade experiences for customers and colleagues. Reporting directly to the CIO, this role is a critical succession platform and is expected to attract candidates with clear CIO succession potential.

About the Role

The Head of Commercial & Corporate Engineering will lead a global engineering organization of more than 1,200 professionals responsible for the strategy, architecture, engineering, integration, operations, and modernization of Thomson Reuters' commercial and corporate platforms.

Historically, much of this capability was outsourced. Today, it is a strategic in-house function central to Thomson Reuters' long-term competitiveness. This leader will continue to build, elevate, and scale that capability, creating a world-class engineering organization that delivers resilient, secure, modern, and customer-centric technology solutions.

The role spans a complex and evolving enterprise platform landscape, including multiple Salesforce instances, ERP environments, CRM, CPQ, digital experience platforms, billing, commissions, provisioning, financial close, and reporting systems. A major focus will be simplifying and integrating the Lead-to-Cash ecosystem - from digital acquisition and lead management through order configuration, billing, provisioning, customer support, and finance.

The successful candidate will co-lead a multi-year enterprise modernization program expected to span five to seven years. While the transformation horizon is long-term, the business urgency is immediate. This leader must bring the resilience, judgment, and change leadership required to operate in an environment of technical debt, organizational complexity, and high stakeholder expectations.

This is a rare opportunity to reshape the commercial and corporate technology foundation of a global leader at the intersection of law, tax, news, compliance, and AI-enabled professional solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Define, own, and execute the strategic technology vision for the Commercial & Corporate Engineering function, aligning engineering priorities with Thomson Reuters' growth, customer experience, and enterprise modernization objectives.

  • Lead global engineering teams that design, build, integrate, and operate business-critical systems supporting the full commercial lifecycle from Lead to Cash.

  • Modernize, rationalize, and simplify a complex enterprise platform estate spanning CRM, CPQ, ERP, financial systems, billing, provisioning, digital experience, and customer engagement technologies.

  • Enable new commercial and monetization models, including the evolution from traditional seat-based licensing to AI-driven, usage- and consumption-based pricing.

  • Deliver consumer-grade billing, invoicing, payment, provisioning, and digital engagement capabilities that improve customer satisfaction and accelerate growth.

  • Provide executive oversight for core enterprise systems, including Salesforce ecosystems, ERP platforms, CPQ, financial close and reporting, commissions, and related back-end systems.

  • Co-lead a large-scale, multi-year modernization program, balancing long-term architecture transformation with immediate business priorities and measurable value delivery.

  • Oversee architecture, engineering, DevOps, integration, release management, operations, and platform reliability across the commercial and corporate systems landscape.

  • Drive platform simplification, cloud adoption, automation, AI enablement, disciplined engineering practices, and operational excellence at enterprise scale.

  • Manage the CCE budget, investments, and operations, including annual expense and capital planning, business case development, investment prioritization, and value tracking.

  • Cultivate executive-level relationships with strategic technology partners, vendors, and system integrators, ensuring partnerships accelerate modernization, innovation, and delivery.

  • Partner closely with leaders across Commercial Excellence, Customer to Cash, Customer Support, Finance, Product, Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data & Analytics, and Operations to align enterprise systems with broader business and go-to-market strategy.

  • Build and sustain a high-performing global engineering culture that attracts, develops, and retains exceptional technology talent.

  • Strengthen succession planning, leadership development, and organizational capability across the function.

  • Serve as a trusted strategic advisor to the CIO, executive leadership team, and, as appropriate, Board-level stakeholders on major technology investments, risk, modernization, and digital transformation.

Location: this hybrid role will ideally be based in our New York office.

About You

You are an enterprise-scale technology executive who combines strategic vision, engineering depth, commercial acumen, and exceptional leadership capability. You understand that modern commercial platforms are not simply back-office systems - they are growth engines that shape customer experience, revenue velocity, operational efficiency, and competitive advantage.

You have led complex, global engineering organizations through significant transformation. You know how to modernize legacy estates while keeping mission-critical systems stable, secure, and performant. You are equally comfortable discussing architecture, operating models, commercial outcomes, customer friction, investment trade-offs, and executive risk.

You bring a strong point of view on how modern platforms, cloud-native architectures, AI, automation, data ecosystems, and enterprise applications should come together to support scalable growth. You can challenge legacy thinking while remaining pragmatic about sequencing, adoption, change management, and delivery.

You thrive in large, matrixed, global organizations. You are a credible partner to commercial, finance, product, engineering, cybersecurity, data, and executive stakeholders. You can translate complex technical issues into clear business narratives that inspire confidence and action.

You are also a talent magnet. You build strong teams, develop future leaders, raise the bar on performance, and create inclusive cultures where accountability, innovation, collaboration, and operational excellence coexist.

Importantly, this role is designed for a leader with CIO succession potential. The successful candidate will demonstrate the enterprise orientation, executive presence, strategic judgment, business breadth, and leadership maturity required to be considered for broader technology leadership over time.
