Job Summary:

The West Power Commercial Operations Desk is looking for a highly motivated individual to join the team and support commercial operations in the CAISO, the western US and Canada. The successful candidate willbe responsible forsupporting a broad range of activities, including wholesalepricing;customerreporting;scheduling;marketanalysis;modelling;and research. This roleinintended to provide the foundation for high performers to advance into a power trading career path.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage pre-scheduling, tie-outsand NERC e-tagging for WECC physical power transactions
  • Assist with CAISO Congestion Revenue Right (CRR) allocation and auction processes
  • Develop comprehensive models to analyze commodity markets, price new businessopportunitiesand advise customers
  • Identifyopportunities for new business with wholesale counterparties including Community Choice Aggregations (CCAs), utilities as well as other wholesale energy companies
  • Manage andvalidateshort-term CCA forecasts and position reports
  • Assist Regulatory and Compliance Teams asrequiredto ensure a prompt and comprehensive response to regulatory developments as well astimelycompliancetoexisting regulations
  • Provide research as needed toidentifypossible strategic business opportunities

MinimumRequirements:

  • BachelorsDegreepreferably in Mathematics, Engineering, or related fields from an accredited college or university
  • 0-3 years of related experience
  • An understanding of physical and financial power markets
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and adhere to deadlines whilemaintainingattention to detail
  • Strong spreadsheet, programming, and presentation skills
  • Must be a creative thinker with strong investigative and analytical skills
  • Statisticalproficiency
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient coder of SQL, and an object-oriented programming language (Ruby, Python, VBA)
  • Advanced quantitative degree preferably in Mathematics, Engineering, or related fields from an accredited college or university
