Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Laboratory Support Specialist - Casual for the Department of Academic Programs within the School of Engineering.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Supports the technical need of stakeholders for engineering education.
- Collaborates closely with the stakeholders (students, faculty, staff, teaching and learning assistants) to support innovative, project-based, hands-on engineering education.
- Assists with operation and execution of laboratory demonstrations and experiments for classes, labs, and research projects.
- Helps with prototyping, fabrication, and verification of designs.
- Provides resources and guidance to stakeholders on the use of lab facilities and equipment.
- Prepares short demos of the lab and student projects for visitors and marketing and recruitment events.
- Engages in continuous professional development and skill enhancement through relevant trainings.
- Assists in the development, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory facilities and field equipment.
- Manages the usage of the lab equipment.
- Prepares and submits purchases orders.
- Maintains lab inventory and supplies to ensure that the right resources are in the right place at the right time.
- Manages student workers supporting the job duties and supervision of the student workers.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by Undergraduate Education.

Qualifications
| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related scientific/technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in mechanical and electrical/electronic design that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of research principles and practices.
- Two years of research or work experience in a STEM area in an academic or industrial setting.
