Description

The Temporary Web Specialist supports the design, maintenance, and management of division websites and web-based systems. This role assists with content updates, usability, accessibility compliance, and system support to ensure web platforms align with institutional standards and strategic goals.

What You'll Do

  • Support the development, maintenance, and organization of websites under the WVU Division for Land-Grant Engagement, including WVU Extension, WVU Davis College and WVU Center for Community Engagement, using approved content management systems.
  • Update and manage web content to ensure accuracy, consistency, accessibility (ADA compliance), and adherence to branding standards.
  • Assist with implementing web standards, templates, and content structures in coordination with communications and technology staff.
  • Provide basic troubleshooting and user support for web-related tools, platforms, and applications.
  • Assist with monitoring website performance and analytics and preparing basic reports as needed.
  • Support project coordination activities, including documentation, task tracking, and timeline updates.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and web liaisons to gather content and respond to routine web requests.
  • Help research emerging web tools and best practices to improve functionality and user experience.

Length of Assignment: 8.5 Months
Work Hours: 37.5 Hours per week

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (or working toward a degree) in management information science, computer science, mass media/communications, or related technology, journalism, or multidisciplinary studies field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience involving:
    • Experience creating, implementing, managing and evaluating websites and electronic media content for large, detailed organization.
    • Experience with web-based platforms and languages.
    • Experience with web industry hardware and software tools.
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

Requirements
  • Valid driver's license.
