Aon is seeking an AI/ML Sr Architect to join the Global Enterprise Architecture team. In this role, you will design, implement, and govern the frameworks, platforms, and processes that enable Aon to systematically innovate with data, analytics, and AI at enterprise scale. You will define standards and reference architectures for capturing, processing, storing, accessing, and sharing data, with a strong emphasis on advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI solutions.

What the day will look like

As a key member of the Enterprise Data Architecture team, you will develop target-state guidance (reusable standards, guidelines, blueprints, and configurations) for evolving data, analytics, and AI/ML platforms across the enterprise. Core focus areas include:

AI/ML architecture and model lifecycle management

MLOps and DataOps in a hybrid cloud environment

Enterprise data and analytics platforms

Responsible, secure, and scalable use of AI

You will be part of a global Enterprise Architecture center of excellence spanning public and private cloud, helping to define and support the services, processes, and technology platforms that teams across Aon can leverage in an autonomous, governed, and secure way. We are looking for an experienced technical architecture leader with a strong, self-directed work ethic who can partner with global teams to establish and evolve enterprise standards, reference architectures, and patterns for AI/ML and cloud-based data services-ultimately enabling Aon to deliver greater value and insight to its clients.

Skills and experience that will lead to success

  • "Key Responsibilities" or a "Preferred Experience" section tuned specifically to AI/ML (e.g., GenAI, vector databases, LLM ops, etc.).
  • Provide strategic leadership for the design and evolution of enterprise-wide AI and ML architectures that address key business and client needs.
  • Typically 10+ years of experience across technology domains such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, and data & AI, with a focus on architecture and strategy.
  • Proven track record of leading and delivering enterprise-wide AI or ML programs across multiple business units in large, complex organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience defining and governing AI/ML platforms, reference architectures, and standards in a hybrid or multi-cloud environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to technical teams, senior leadership, and C level executives.
  • Hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks and platforms such as Amazon SageMaker, Google Cloud Vertex AI, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.
  • Experience with vector databases and graph technologies, and their application in modern AI/ML and knowledge-graph use cases.
  • Define, refine, and communicate the organization's AI and innovation strategy, ensuring clear alignment with business objectives, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.
  • Own and govern innovation frameworks, including AI sandboxes, labs, and experimentation platforms-particularly for generative AI-ensuring they are scalable, reliable, secure, and compliant.
  • Lead the design and implementation of generative AI solutions and AI-enabled data products, setting standards and patterns that can be reused across business units.
  • Partner with senior technology, data, and business leaders to integrate AI and data products into existing platforms, workflows, and client-facing solutions, driving measurable business outcomes.
  • Establish and maintain reference architectures, guardrails, and best practices for AI/ML, MLOps, DataOps, and experimentation at enterprise scale.
  • Guide and mentor architecture, engineering, and data science teams, helping to build organizational capability in AI and advanced analytics.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and data technologies, and proactively translate these developments into actionable roadmaps and investment recommendations.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field (advanced degree preferred) or relevant experience.

Desired Skills

  • Deep expertise in one or more AI subdomains, such as natural language processing, generative AI, recommendation systems, or computer vision.
  • Experience architecting and deploying large-scale solutions on major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Strong problem-solving and systems-thinking skills, with the ability to balance innovation, robustness, cost, and time-to-market.
  • Proven ability to lead through influence, work effectively in a fast-paced, global, and matrixed environment, and drive consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.

Pay Transparency Laws:

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $132,600 to $175,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
