The firm is seeking a full-time Restructuring Analyst to support the growth and business development efforts of the Restructuring, Liability Management/Special Situations and Bankruptcy Litigation groups, collectively the Bankruptcy Practice. This role will sit within the Practice Management and Marketing Department and will focus primarily on identifying, monitoring and analyzing stressed and distressed companies, market developments and actionable opportunities that can support client development, strategic outreach and practice growth.

The successful candidate must have a strong analytical mindset, a high degree of intellectual curiosity, and the ability to synthesize financial, market and business information into clear, actionable insights. This position requires an individual who is proactive, detail-oriented, comfortable working with evolving datasets and market developments, and able to operate effectively in a fast-paced professional services environment.

The Analyst will report directly to a senior member of the Practice Management and Marketing Department and will work closely with partners and associates in the Bankruptcy Practice who will help guide the substantive direction of the role.

This is an exempt New York based role on a hybrid schedule.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:


  • Prepare, maintain and continuously update a live watchlist of stressed and distressed companies that may present opportunities in liability management, restructuring, special situations or bankruptcy litigation
  • Monitor public filings, earnings releases, debt trading activity, ratings actions, refinancing activity, covenant and maturity timelines, liquidity developments and other market signals relevant to target companies and sectors
  • Track and organize information relating to capital structure complexity, sponsor ownership, trading levels, operational performance trends and recent liability-management or restructuring activity as well as information regarding credit groups, ad hoc committees and fund positioning
  • Help identify and prioritize business development targets based on market conditions, client relevance, relationship intelligence and practice strategy
  • Develop concise financial, strategic and legal talking points to support partner outreach, client conversations, internal planning and other business development efforts
  • Track ongoing internal and external outreach efforts related to watchlist targets and help maintain continuity and momentum across those efforts
  • Partner with practice management, business development, market intelligence and other marketing teams to strengthen the Bankruptcy Practice's market intelligence and client development capabilities
  • Contribute to cross-practice initiatives by identifying opportunities that may involve other relevant practice areas, industry teams or existing client relationships
  • Establish and maintain connectivity with investment banker community to stay abreast of latest developments



Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in finance, economics, accounting, business, data analytics or a related field
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in investment banking, restructuring advisory, credit research, market intelligence, business analysis, financial analysis, competitive intelligence or a related field in a law firm, financial services firm, consulting firm or corporate environment
  • Experience with Bloomberg and specialized restructuring / credit intelligence platforms such as Reorg, Debtwire, 9fin, PitchBook LCD, Capital IQ or similar tools
  • Strong analytical and research skills, including the ability to interpret financial data, market developments and company-specific information and extract actionable insights
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly, concisely and in a business-oriented manner
  • Strong attention to detail and strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and keep recurring processes current and organized
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving and the judgment to work independently while collaborating closely with lawyers and business professionals
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting restructuring, liability management, leveraged finance, special situations, distressed investing, bankruptcy or related practices or business lines
  • Familiarity with financial statements, debt structures, liquidity analysis, trading and ratings indicators, and stressed or distressed company analysis
  • Experience building or maintaining company watchlists, market-monitoring tools, dashboards or business development pipelinesBottom of Form
