Short Description

The Genetic Counselor Assistant (GCA) supports licensed genetic counselors and genetics physicians in delivering high-quality patient care. This role focuses on administrative coordination, data management, patient communication, and case preparation to ensure efficient clinic operations.

Prepare charts for clinical encounters.
Request relevant medical records and previous genetic test results. Prepare counseling materials for already confirmed diagnoses.
Communicate with patients regarding appointment logistics and sample collection instructions.
Facilitate test kit distribution and specimen tracking.
Aid genetic counselor in literature searches relevant to the patient diagnosis or suspected diagnosis.
Ensure that patient insurance information is active and accurate, and that referring provider information is correct.
Help to coordinate genetic test ordering and uploading of supporting documentation.
Communicate with genetic testing laboratories regarding requisitions, billing, and sample issues.
Track pending tests and help to ensure timely follow-up on results.
Help to collate data for clinical research studies.


Experience Required

0-2 Years preferred

HIGH SCHOOL

Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Hourly Rate Min $22
Hourly Rate Max $35


The New Jersey Pay Transparency Act requires disclosure of the pay range for this position.

A salary offer will vary based on the job role, candidate experience, qualifications, internal pay equity and market data.
